The Maryland Renaissance Festival is something I look forward to all year long. Every year the husband and I swear that “We’re definitely going to dress up next year.”
Last year: Jack screamed bloody murder and was terrified at the thought of riding a pony. This year: Cowboy.
Last year: Henry swimming in utero like a little sea monkey. This year: 6 months old, and sleepy.
Jack learned about the bees. This is him showing us the queen.
Would you like a little Cirque de Soleil with your jousting, glass blowing, Celtic bands, theatre, yummy food, elephant & pony rides, sword swallowing and general merriment? Sure thing!
We brought the double stroller just in case Jack insisted on riding but he walked, almost the whole day. He of course immediately passed out in the car as a result.05 Monday Oct 2009

We made our first of two trips to the Maryland Renaissance Festival this weekend. Seriously, there aren’t words for how awesome the Faire is. We started with a Fight Club show, which always includes a beef stew for me YUM!
Jack loved the stew and the show.
Then we went to the Bee Folks and caught a show at the Globe from their second floor window.
At the end of the day Jack was pooped!

Another wonderful fall weekend and another trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. We met up with Susan and Carter and also Field and Kate. Apparently Susan and Kate are due 10 days apart (according to my calculations)! We went to Fight School.
We checked out the pony rides (which Carter enjoyed) and watched the Elephants (which Carter also enjoyed). We ate: Scotch Eggs, 2 bread bowl of pot roast, bread bowl of chili, sausage on a stick. We tested out the hand made hammocks, comfy and fun!
Carter got his face painted with a dragon, which Matt was supposed to be taking a picture of. Why is it that he can operate his camera with the finesse of a prima ballerina and I ask for a picture of Carter’s super cool dragon and this is what I get.
We watched some Celtic singer/dancers.
Then someone, who missed his morning nap, got fussy and we had to call it a day early. As soon as we pulled out of the ‘parking lot’ this was what happened…
Had we stayed longer we would have had: chicken on a stick, beef bbq, apple dumpling and ice cream. (Yes, we do go for the food.)

Good morrow! On this fair day we rode in out chariot to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. We thought perchance the weather would hold and we would be able to make merry all day. Ok, I just can’t ren-speak for the whole blog because I’m not that good so I’m done now.
Jack was crowned king of all the land. Something about a sword and a stone; I’m a little fuzzy on the details.
where we learned about the fantastic properties of licorice root -slight numbing property and GREAT for teething!!
We saw Shakespeare’s Scum perform; Jack is their biggest fan! With performances like “Macbeth in 30 minutes or less” we always enjoy their shows. (Puke and Snot is not performing until October this year – for those who love that show.)
It was a bit of a long day for Jack. But we had a fantastic time. We didn’t expect top be able to be there as long as we were – you never know when the need for a nap will win out over other plans. We arrived at 10:30 and left at 4:30 YAY!
