had a farm E-I-E-I-O. Today we went to Larriland Farm to get some fresh produce! We picked our own blueberries.
Today Jack had his first pool experience and his first swim class! Those who know me know it’s mandatory that my kid(s) like the water and preferable if they want to become competitive swimmers… not that I’m planning Jack’s life for him or anything. At swim class we practiced floating on our front and our back. We learned how to go under water and how to kick our legs. Jack just kicked and splashed all on his own without much demonstration. He’s already a great floater… I am so proud!
After class we dried off using our WGST towel. I felt it was important to go full circle here and pass down the black and gold early!
Then we hosted mom’s group. It’s getting harder and harder to pose the babies as they seem to have minds of their own. How inconvenient!
We also baked brownies (from a box so nothing special) but we learned more about the local farmers markets and we’re really committed to getting local produce and even local meat whenever possible.
Tomorrow we might have pictures from the farm… assuming mommy remembers the camera and remembers to take pictures with it!
This weekend my cousin Kristin (who I can now announce is PREGNANT!) and her Fiance Rob came to visit us and meet the little man. Today we went to Silver Spring to eat and meet up with Tom and Amy! We spent a little time by the fountain before lunch…
Jack sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time.
Tom showed off his mowhawk… Dr. Jesus is no more. Amy, as always, made Jack laugh.
On the way home Kristin, Rob, Jack and I fell asleep. (poor Matt) Once we all got home the boys (Matt and Rob) layed down for a nap. Kristin, Jack and I headed out to Old Town Ellicott City. I had read in the local paper about this new baby store. We LOVED it. They have items that you cannot find in other places (some are from online-only vendors). They’re going to start selling cloth diapers… which we all know I love!
The only downside is in order to get into the store you have to climb up a stoop of about 8 stairs. So bring a friend or leave the stroller at home!
I might not be able to get up and walk away yet, but behind these dashing good looks is a mastermind plotting mischief!
Did the laundry.
Cady came over to play (This was actually from Friday because sometimes Mommy is slow to upload the pictures from her camera). We had lots of fun!
I gave Mommy some home decorating tips, I just hope she listens to me…
Then I ate my dinner. Mmm Mmm good!
Jack is currently eating: yams, prunes, apples, carrots, pears, rice cereal, oat ceral, wheat cereal.
Next up: squash
Currently on the bench: peas, peaches – peas (we think) are causing some gas which makes nights difficult and the peaches, well, Jack acted like we were poisoning him… so they are a no-go.
We always add formula to his cereal to sneak in a little extra nutrition. I’m sneaky like that.
Lately Jack will put anything, and I mean ANYTHING in his mouth. Crate and Barrel catalogue- Yes, Note cards– Yes, The curtains- Yes, My knee- Yes (and also my elbow, which makes changing him a bit of a challenge.)
We’re making progress. I’m working on the first coat of actual paint (the last 3 -yes 3- coats were JUST primer.) We have also since hung the wine rack and cabinets that go right there. So now the real question if the cabinets are white, the counter top is dark greenish/black, the appliances are stainless, the back splash will be sage green with a black stripe, and the floors are a medium wood…. what color would you make the hinges and knobs? Black or Brushed Nickel?
While we were killing time we watched kids playing in the fountain. Jack laughed and cooed watching them run in and out of the water. We decided to let him get in too!
Just for today I wish Jack could talk. I imagine our conversation would go like this:
J: Hi there, Mommy. You’re doing a great job at this parenting thing.
M: Thank you, sometimes it’s tough because you seem upset and I don’t know why. When you arch your back and scream it sounds like you’re frustrated – why? When you rub your ear are you tired or do your teeth hurt? Does the baby Tylenol help with the teething pain at all? Do peas really give you an upset tummy, or have I made that up in my head? Are you getting enough to eat? How can we help you nap and sleep better? What is your favorite toy? What is your favorite game? What are you thinking right now?
J: ::Yawn:: Mommy, don’t bore me with your questions. Let’s play!
If you could ask them anything, what would it be? And maybe more importantly, what would they say…
